Project Type: Retail Space / Day Spa
A retail interior design project that explores the trajectories of the public and the private, Sant’urbano Spa was designed to control and mitigate each user’s experience through the very narrow space. Located along a busy commercial street in downtown Toronto, the spa was designed to give customers an opportunity to escape the bustle of the street. The linear floor plan calls for a very efficient use of space and division between circulation and activity. The challenge of dividing the required functions within the spa was achieved using colour as an indicator of program. The variations in colour, texture and details signal the migration from public and semi-private to private spaces as users consume the experience.
